I just feel empowered to be able to express whatever I want and not let boundaries define me," said Gifty, when discussing her commitment to God. "I love the gospel, life experiences and the gift of music. I'm happy to have this confidence and I wouldn't have it any other way."
Croydon-born Gifty has taken a preparing a long time for her 2017 debut! She discovered her gift at a very young age in Rockmount Primary School at a Christmas talent show. As her art for singing flourished in her secondary school years at Norwood School she was given the opportunity to sing on ITV's talent show 'Stars Up Your Nose'. She later joined a girl group and sung at several local talent shows, sharing the stage with Michael Jackson at the World Music Awards, and landing a spot on MTV's Hugo Boss Urban Rules competition where panellist judges were R&B star Amerie and Atlantic Records' A&R Director Twin B, to eventually being signed to Merrystar/Universal Publishing as a songwriter. The exposure and glamour was a great experience but could not compare to the foundation that was made in her when she was called to serve as a Choir Leader of LivingStone Choir in London city church, SPAC Nation. From singing to a handful of people in bars to singing to a peak attendance of 1000 people on every Sunday at luxury locations. Gifty attributes her musical inspiration to the likes of Adele, Sia, P!nk, Mary J. Blige, Cold Play, and the pop legend, Janet Jackson.
Additionally, Gifty has experienced international success, scoring chart toppers abroad in the KPop arena with SM Entertainment's Red Velvet as well as British favourites as The Wanted, MKS, and Roll Deep.
"There's nothing I love more on this planet than music, and I thank God every day for granting me this talent. I can't wait to share it with as many listeners around the world as possible," said Gifty.
When she's not showcasing her talents as a pop star or singing at SPAC, Gifty is one of the ambassadors and leaders in a proactive young adult organisation: Croydon Connect. The organisation works to combat street crime and restore young people's confidence while encouraging them to become entrepreneurs and industry professionals.
